8 Unique Things To Do In Ontario This Spring

It is finally time for cherry blossom season, picnics in the park, and taking walks in the sunshine. I can only hope all those April showers will bring out the most beautiful May flowers. In the meantime, there are lots of unique things you can do right now to try and soak up as much of spring as possible. From water fall chasing to fresh flower picking, I’ve got you covered. Check out these eight activities that might give you some fresh ideas on activies to do.

Go Chasing Waterfalls In Hamilton At Tew’s Falls

You wouldn’t expect it but there are so many beautiful waterfalls that are only about an hour drive from Toronto. Head to Spencer Gorge Conservation Area and you will find the dramatic Tew’s Falls, which is the largest in Hamilton. Walk the picturesque trails featuring lots of rocky lookout points and continue all the way until Dundas Peak, if you’re looking for a decent hike. Once you arrive, you will have incredible views over the area of Dundas, Ontario.

Soak Up The Sun At Niagara Whirlpool

Play tourist for the day and head to this famous attraction, only a reasonable drive away. There are endless photo opportunities at the spectacular Niagara Whirlpool and Niagara River. The colour of the water is a turquoise blue and is absolutely breathtaking from any angle. Take the historic cable car across, and you will end up crossing the international borderline between Canada and the United States four times each trip! This is located right near Niagara Falls, so you can check that off your list while you’re there, too

Get Cultured at The AGO: Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room

After all the hype last year, there is no doubt the installation of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room (Let’s Survive Forever) will be a big hit. Opening up to the public at the AGO in Toronto on May 25, this room received donations from the David Yuile & Mary Elizabeth Hodgson Fund and 4,700 donors to make this a permanent AGO showcase. While you’re at the museum, admire the beautiful architecture of one of the biggest galleries in North America, which has a collection that includes over thousands of pieces of ancient and modern art. Make sure to stop in on Wednesdays as admission is free after 6:00pm.

Try Out An Escape Room At Casa Loma

Walk the grounds and feel like royalty at Casa Loma, the Gothic revival mansion. The castle features hidden passageways and viewing towers you will definitely want to explore. This historic museum is open for visitors to roam the beautiful and spacious grounds daily. Book ahead for special lunches for Easter and Mother’s Day, as they sell out quickly, try the Escape Room experience, or enjoy a tasty breakfast or lunch at the cafe.

Explore Limehouse Conservation Area

Take the day to immerse yourself in nature. Go waterfall hunting in Georgetown, or explore the caves and caverns at the Limehouse Conservation Area. This park is perfect for bringing your dog, taking a hike with friends, or for a cute outdoorsy date. It’s a great spot for photo opportunities (think Tomb Raider vibes) with the old mill ruins, but make sure to wear sturdy shoes as the pathways are very rocky in some parts.

Take A Roadtrip To The Town Of Port Hope

Head out of the city for the day to enjoy the quaint town of Port Hope. There are more things to do in this small town than you can imagine. Walk along the river and view the adorable architecture, check out the cutest farm called Haute Goat, featuring alpacas, baby goats, horses and other animals, or immerse yourself in the Ganaraska Forest for some much needed nature time.

Take A Helicopter Tour Over Toronto

This is a once in a lifetime experience. Take a helicopter from Billy Bishop Airport and get a full tour over the whole city. If you want to get the most photogenic angles of Toronto, you have to do it from aeriel view. Hold back your fear of heights, because this is truly an incredible experience.

Pick Your Own Fresh Flowers At Andrew’s Scenic Acres

Only an about an hour drive from Toronto, this stunning family-run farm is filled with fields of all types of colourful flowers. Spend the day picking out a beautiful bouquet, as well as fruits and vegetables. Feel free to explore the grounds and stop by the on-site winery for a glass or two.
