10 Dreamy Cottages To Stay At This Summer

This curated list will hopefully give you travel inspiration to check out all the well-designed properties and dreamy cottages around Ontario. The cabins selected in this post are places I have been to or properties that have been on my wish list for a while. You would be surprised how many incredible places there are only a short drive away from home. All of these Airbnb’s have modern amenities and high-speed Wifi. Each one is unique and provides all the basic necessities, with a little extra.

(1) The Boathouse

Immerse yourself in the outdoors and enjoy the location of this incredible waterfront property in the middle of the Ottawa Valley. Wake up to the sun shining through the amazingly large windows, or keep the curtains closed to catch up on some rest. After some coffee or tea at the cottage, you are ready to explore your surroundings. Whether it is sitting back and finding somewhere comfy to read, or going on exhilarating outdoor activities, you will definitely find yourself at peace. The hosts offer self-guided recreational activities and will give you excellent advice on hiking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, biking, natural rock water sliding, and stand up paddleboards in the area. This wood chalet, called the Sauble Alpine Retreat, is just a five minute walk to the gorgeous white, sandy Sauble Beach. Spend a warm summer day down by the water and sit by the cozy fire in the evening. Surrounded by trees, this large private estate is an ideal retreat for a group of friends or a family. The indoor architecture is beautifully designed, with all wood walls and ceilings made from handcrafted posts and beams. Big bright windows overlook the property from the living room and dining room. The entire place is open-concept and there’s even a balcony and a fire pit! There is also A/C for those hot summer nights. If you’d like to spend a few days checking out the area, there’s a lot to do in the summer. Sauble Beach is the new hotspot, so you can expect lots of new restaurants and hotels to open up in the area.

Trott Cottage is located on Lake Menominee, and might be the most adorable property imaginable. This newly renovated cottage is the perfect spot for couples, families, or friends that want to enjoy nature, but still have the feel of home. Trott Cottage has a photo worthy interior with welcoming touches, such as wood supplies to enjoy evenings by the fireplace, free linens and towels, and bottled water in the fridge. The cabin, located right on the lake, provides all the necessities for a day out on the water with paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks. The entire area of Muskoka is stunning and is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of wildlife.

(4) The Nook

The Nook is located on a sandy waterfront, with full access to the dock (for sunset watching), along with canoe and paddle-boards. In the evening, sit back in the hot tub and enjoy the gorgeous views over the lake. Inside the cabin, the vibe is beachy boho meets mid-century, with all the details down to the nines. The space also doubles as a yoga studio during the week, which gives it a zen-like, airy and minimalist feel. It’s best suited for a romantic getaway or for quiet families looking to spend time outdoors.

The cottage is seconds away from cafes and restaurants, as well as only a quick drive to beautiful sandy beaches. Also, they are dog-friendly!

Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Tobermory, the Grotto and Singing Sands, this rustic-chic cabin is ideal for the explorer in you. Wake up to the sound of waves in the morning and stargaze at night before sleep. This three bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway for families or friends, providing almost everything you can think of. There are also a variety of books available and numerous games (board games and drinking games). The cottage features your very own private waterfront oasis, perfect for sunset gazing. This place is ideal for two couples or friends that want to stay in a dreamy paradise.

Surrounded by two acres of pine forest and situated right on the waterfront, you’ll feel immediately at peace. If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend away from it all, you’ll feel it right here in this four-bedroom cottage. The large open concept main area makes it perfect for some true quality time chatting, playing, dreaming, or to simply binge-watching Netflix. This place is absolutely made for families but also works well for friends. Make your way to the loft via the drop-down ladder if you want some alone time. Take a dip into the water and sunbathe on the wraparound porch that features lakeside views. On cooler evenings, cozy up by the fireplace or the outdoor fire pit. There’s also tons of wildlife in the area, so you might get a glimpse of real nature!
