This list will hopefully give you inspiration to travel to many of the super cute and very well designed properties around Ontario. The cabins selected in this post are places I have been to, or cabins that have been on my wish list for a while. You would be surprised how many incredible places there are only a short drive away from your home. All of these cabins have modern amenities and high-speed Wifi. Each one is unique and provides all the basic necessities, with a little extra.
(1) The Boathouse
Location: North Algona Wilberforce, Ontario
Immerse yourself in the outdoors and enjoy the location of this incredible waterfront property in the middle of the Ottawa Valley. Wake up to the the sun shining through the amazingly large windows, or keep the curtains closed to catch up on some rest. After some coffee or tea at the cottage, you are ready to explore your surroundings. Whether it is sitting back and finding somewhere comfy to read, or going on exhilarating outdoor activities, you will definitely find yourself at peace. The hosts offer self-guided recreational activities, and will give you excellent advice on hiking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, biking, natural rock water sliding, and stand up paddle boards in the area. (2) Sauble Beach Alpine Retreat
Location: Sauble Beach, Ontario
This wood chalet, called the Sauble Alpine Retreat, is just a five minute walk to the gorgeous white, sandy Sauble Beach. Spend a warm summer day down by the water and sit by the cozy fire at in evening. Surrounded by trees, this large private estate is an ideal retreat for a group of friends or a family. The indoor architecture is beautifully designed, with all wood walls and ceilings made from hand crafted posts and beams. Big bright windows overlook the property from the living room and dining room. The entire place is open-concept and there’s even a balcony and a fire pit! There is also A/C for those hot summer nights. If you’d like to spend a few days checking out the area, there’s a lot to do in the summer. Sauble Beach is the new hotspot, so you can expect lots of new restaurants and hotels to open up in the area.
(3) Trott Cottage
Location: Muskoka, Ontario
Trott Cottage is located on Lake Menominee, and might be the most adorable property imaginable. This newly renovated cottage is the perfect spot for couples, families, or friends that want to enjoy nature, but still have the feel of home. Trott Cottage has a photo worthy interior with welcoming touches, such as wood supplies to enjoy evenings by the fireplace, free linens and towels, and bottled water in the fridge. The cabin, located right on the lake, provides all the necessities for a day out on the water with paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks. The entire area of Muskoka is stunning and is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of wildlife.
(4) The Nook
Location: Lakefield, Ontario
The Nook is located on a sandy waterfront, with full access to the dock (for sunset watching), along with canoe and paddle-boards. In the evening, sit back in the hot tub and enjoy the gorgeous views over the lake. Inside the cabin, the vibe is beachy boho meets mid-century, with all the details down to the nines. The space also doubles as a yoga studio during the week, which gives it a zen-like, airy and minimalist feel. It’s best suited for a romantic getaway or for quiet families looking to spend time outdoors.
(5) Peaceful Muskoka Cabin With Cedar Sauna
Location: Gravenhurst, Ontario
This newly renovated A-frame cabin with a twist, has three bedrooms and a cedar barrel sauna. There is a wood burning stove that is perfect for cooler evening nights. The property provides everything you might need, as well as two decks for tanning or reading, a canoe, two kayaks, board games (along with outdoor games), Netflix and more. Take the boat out for the day to one of the many uninhabited islands if you’re feeling adventurous. This cottage is best suited for couples or groups of friends looking for rustic vibes with modern comfort. There are tons of beautiful parks in the Gravenhurst area to check out while you are there.
(6) The Ferg
Location: Prince Edward County, Ontario
Located in the heart of PEC, this 1850’s restored heritage home is known for its Scandinavian-inspired rustic chic design. There are so many unique details you will notice throughout the house. It was even featured in the magazine, Canadian Living. There is everything you might need, from a fully equipt kitchen to cable TV, and even yoga mats. The cottage is seconds away from cafes and restaurants, as well as only a quick drive to beautiful sandy beaches. Also, they are dog-friendly!
(7) The Fox Den
Location: Havelock, Ontario
This stunning and peaceful haven is perfect for family gatherings or a girls’ weekend away, with its large open concept space and four big bedrooms. Spend time relaxing in this stylish cabin located right on the lake. The property provides you with the finest amenities, with everything you might need right at the tip of your fingers. Take the canoe out into the lake and explore all the area has to offer. Whether you want a weekend reading on the couch or taking a hike in the surrounding areas, there is a little something for everyone.
(8) Hudson’s Rock
Location: Tobermory, Ontario
Just a 10 minute drive from downtown Tobermory, the Grotto and Singing Sands, this rustic-chic cabin is ideal for the explorer in you. Wake up to the sound of waves in the morning and stargaze at night before sleep. This three bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway for families or friends, providing almost everything you can think of. Play board games in the evening or watch a movie on satellite TV in front of the wood burning fire. Sit back in a large Muskoka chair by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. There are even outdoor games provided, such as corn hole and washer toss.
(9) The Here & Now
Location: Prince Edward County, Ontario
Nestled in the county, this aesthetically pleasing cottage is a wonderful place to unwind for a weekend. Plus, did I mention the amazing interior? The Here & Now is also prime location for some of the best wineries and restaurants in the area. This two bedroom cottage offers panoramic views over the Bay Muscote, and has tons of comfy linens provided. There are also a variety of books available and numerous games (board games and drinking games). The cottage features your very own private waterfront oasis, perfect for sunset gazing. This place is ideal for two couples or friends that want to stay in a dreamy paradise.
(10) The Wood House Muskoka Cabin
Location: Coldwater, Ontario
Surrounded by two acres of pine forest and situated right on the waterfront, you’ll feel immediately at peace. If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend away from it all, you’ll feel it right here in this four-bedroom cottage. The large open concept main area makes it perfect for some true quality time chatting, playing, dreaming, or to simply binge-watching Netflix. This place is absolutely made for families, but also works well for friends. Make your way to the loft via the drop-down ladder if you want some alone time. Take a dip into the water and sunbathe on the wraparound porch that features lakeside views. On cooler evenings, cozy up by the fireplace or the outdoor fire pit. There’s also tons of wildlife in the area, so you might get a glimpse real nature!
